Leesburg
Welcome to the place for owners of our furry friends in Leesburg!
As a responsible pet owner, we know you will help keep Leesburg a beautiful place to live, work and visit by being actively involved in taking care of pet waste. Pet waste left on trails and common areas not only is unsightly, but can add to the degradation of water quality in and around town.
Did you know that pet waste can harbor harmful germs and bacteria such as E. coli, Salmonella and Fecal Coliform? Pet waste left on the ground allows these germs and bacteria to be washed into streams, creeks and water supplies by rain and snow melt.
Pet waste is NOT the same as other animal waste, such as from deer, birds, etc. Companion animals have a different diet that their non-domesticated relatives and dog waste contains higher amounts of nutrients than other animal waste. Pet waste does not biodegrade as quickly as waste from wild animals and is NOT the same as fertilizer!
